Our approach to addiction counseling is three fold, encompassing
the clients physiological, emotional and spiritual needs. We
are a client-centered facility based on respect and compassion.
Each problem area is individually addressed, offering a wide
range of therapeutic interventions to help each client achieve
their
specific goals.
We specialize in treating those who are chronic relapsers with
drugs and alcohol and/or are dually diagnosed. Our program focuses
on the long-term solution. We do not "institutionalize"
our clients. They live in a supervised real world environment,
which we feel is a major contributing factor to their long-term
success.
Traditionally, addiction treatment has been restricted to detoxification,
medication and limited psychoanalytical processing. The Holistic
Addiction Treatment Center believes addictions are the result
of several associated areas of dysfunction. Our approach is
to treat all the key areas by providing a diverse
program of psychoanalytical and physiological therapeutic methods,
a bio-nutritional program, spiritual reconnection, family therapy,
career development and additional services as opportunity provides.
Clients will, therefore, have the potential to become healthier,
stronger, better balanced, "more centered" and happier.
Their level of aliveness will significantly increase, as well
as their
feelings of connection to themselves and to others. They will
have more skills and confidence in creating the lives they seek,
develop good relationships, discover satisfying jobs or careers,
and experience enjoyment of the moment.
The disease model implies that there is something wrong with
a person that cannot be healed. While there may be predispositions
to addiction (physically, emotionally, and socially), Holistic
Counseling will identify and treat these areas specifically,
using the most state-of-the-art methods available today. For
example, research has shown that there are indeed alcoholic
biochemistries that make some people predisposed. Rather than
a "disease", these are considered to be conditions
that can be treated and/or managed and their impact dramatically
reduced. In addition, our professional staff will profoundly
address emotional issues, childhood traumas and other significant
personal and interpersonal problems considered to have an
impact on the person?s addictive behavior.
With a sense of powerfulness and self-worth, people are in
a better place to say "no" to unhealthy, addictive
behaviors and to say "yes" to the healthy choices
that make life worth living. The goal of Holistic Counseling
is to help clients focus on building self-esteem and begin
to feel their own self-worth once more. This in turn builds
confidence and their ability to create the lives they want.
The Center?s model is a network of small facilities. The proposed
homelike setting reduces the ?institutional? feeling and will
provide clients with an abundance of personal attention. It
will also enable us to tailor the program to individual needs.
Holistic Counseling intends to emphasize empowerment and skill-building
to strengthen a person's ability to be in the world with the
means to deal with its many ups and downs. After completing
the program, clients will be encouraged to participate in
Aftercare sessions with other Holistic Counseling alumni.
Our emphasis will be on solutions and results rather than
long-term dependence on our staff or meetings. We will provide
our alumni with the tools, skills and encouragement to wean
themselves from the program and minimize their need for outside
professional support. The two owners and founders of the program,
Jerry Goldfarb and John Giordano, are both recovering addicts
who have over 17 years of sobriety and experience. The Holistic
Program has been designed with their experiences and insights
in mind.
